Jewel Thais-Williams
Jewel Thais-Williams, a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community, founded Jewel's Catch One, a legendary nightclub in Los Angeles. With a mission to provide a safe haven for the marginalized, particularly LGBTQ+ people of color, Jewel's Catch One became an iconic space for self-expression, acceptance, and celebration. Thais-Williams used her platform to advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and promote equal rights for all. She was the first Black lesbian with a dedicated square in Los Angeles.
